The short version: we never receive your files, so we cannot read, keep or lose them.
Your documents
When you drop a PDF onto an avalpdf tool, the browser reads it straight from your disk into the memory of that tab. All the work — merging, splitting, compressing, stamping — happens there. The finished file is handed back to you as a download. No copy is sent to us or to anyone else.
Close the tab and it's gone. There is no file store to clear out, and no retention period to trust us on.
Accounts
There aren't any. We don't ask for your name, your email address, or a password, because nothing here needs one.
Passwords you type
The password you set when protecting a PDF, or enter to unlock one, is used inside the tab and then discarded. It isn't transmitted or stored. That also means we can't help recover a password you've forgotten.
What the site itself needs
Loading avalpdf fetches the usual things a website does: page code, fonts and icons. Your browser records your visit in its own history, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests, which contain no document content.
Anonymous usage counts
So we can see how busy the site is and spot a tool that has stopped working, we record anonymous counts: which page was opened, which tool ran, how many files it handled and their total size, whether it finished or failed, and a rough idea of country and device. Your files themselves are never uploaded and never leave your device — we only count what happened, not what was in it. No names, no email addresses, no file names, no document contents.
Cookies and advertising
avalpdf itself sets no tracking cookies and never sells data — we don't collect any to sell. To keep the tools free, the site is funded by ads served by Google AdSense. When ads appear, Google and its partners may set their own cookies or use similar technologies to show and measure ads, including personalised ads where local law allows. You can control or turn off personalised advertising in your Google Ads Settings, and learn more in Google's advertising policy.
