How to split a PDF or extract specific pages
Updated 2026-10-19
You received a 60-page document but only need to send pages 12 to 15. There are three ways to do that, and picking the right one saves time.
Split, extract or delete?
- Extract pages: keep a few pages and drop the rest. Best when you need a small part.
- Split PDF: break one file into several — by range or one file per page.
- Delete pages: remove a few pages and keep the rest.
Writing page ranges
Use commas and hyphens: 1-3, 7, 10-12 means pages 1, 2, 3, 7, 10, 11 and 12. Page numbers refer to the position in the file, not the number printed on the page, which can differ if there is a cover or roman-numeral introduction.
Splitting a scanned batch
If you scanned many letters into one file, open Split PDF, choose one file per page or set ranges for each letter, and download the ZIP. Rename each file before filing it.
Privacy tip
Removing pages does not hide information on the pages you keep. If those pages contain account numbers you do not want to share, use Redact PDF as well.
